ASU’s Luguentz Dort among NBA Draft Combine invitees

Arizona State guard Luguentz Dort is among the 66 players invited to the 2019 NBA Draft Combine.

ESPN currently lists Dort as the 27th-best prospect and in Jonathan Givony’s latest mock draft has him going 25th overall to the Portland Trail Blazers.

At 6-foot-5 and 224 pounds, Dort excelled as a freshman at ASU, averaging 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. While his shooting splits weren’t especially efficient at 41% overall and 31% from three-point range, Dort showed a proficiency at getting to the foul stripe 6.1 times per game.

Dort projects as a player who could use the event to his advantage. His athleticism, intensity and physical build combine to project a high upside as a defender at the next level.

The combine, which will run from May 15-19 in Chicago, will include height and weight measuring, testing and on-court action for some of the participants.

Dort could be joined by fellow Pac-12 products Moses Brown, Jaylen Hands and Kris Wilkes of UCLA; Bol Bol and Louis King of Oregon; Kevin Porter Jr of USC; Jaylen Nowell of Washington; and K.Z. Okpala of Stanford. Among missing names is Washington defensive ace Matisse Thybulle and Gonzaga forward Rui Hachimura, the latter of whom has been projected by many as a lottery pick.

Arizona State forward Zylan Cheatham, who is viewed as a potential second-round pick, was also not on the initial list of invitees.

Top prospects in Duke’s Zion Williamson, Murray State’s Ja Morant, Duke’s R.J. Barrett, Virginia’s De’Andre Hunter and Texas Tech’s Jarrett Culver have been invited.

Here is the entire list of players invited.
